The RG must be a voting member of the Society and be assigned to Region F in a professional section or as a MAL. They must have served at least two years in aggregate as a professional member of the senate, professional section or MAL president or representative, or region officer, except that one year as either a collegiate senator or collegiate representative may be counted toward this requirement.
As the leader and public representative of the Region, the governor is responsible for coordinating communications within the region, for managing the finances of the region, for promoting and facilitating section vitality, for identifying needs within the region, and for being a resource to the sections and members. Travel for face-to-face events within the Region and to Society meetings is expected approximately 4-5 times per year. The RG works under the direction of the Director of Regions and attends monthly telecons when not at a face-to-face forum with the other RGs.
This role has broad responsibility across the Region and great visibility to the workings of the Society at a Board and Senate level. A good candidate must be knowledgeable of SWE’s processes and contacts and prepared to be responsive to region members’ inquiries at the professional and collegiate level.
